“The Boss and the Baby” is a book that I never thought I would write. About five years ago, I was focused on writing educational and technical books for people who wanted to enter the online tech space. I was determined to change the landscape. After 8 books, I felt I had made some change, especially with the accompanying podcast, “The Blogging Entrepreneur.”
However, I quickly realized just how fast the tech space changes. Within just a few years, the first couple of books I had written were slowly becoming outdated. I wanted to change my approach, but at the time in my career, I needed to focus on something else.
You know, they say that having a child changes your life. And it really does. Not only in terms of sleep, but also in terms of growing up and making less risky decisions. In terms of my career, I became much more private than I had previously been. A year before having the baby, I was getting recognized on the street. And let me tell you, I wasn’t digging it. Like, at all.
Most of my books going forward are more evergreen advice than technical. I wanted to make more of an impact but in different ways. Plus, having a child really changes what projects you work on too. So, “The Boss and the Baby” is really a book about my journey in business once the baby came, and it’s a great story to read if you are pregnant or want to start a family while running your business. You can learn a few great things from my experiences, as I made some mistakes that I won’t make with baby number two.
